Finding the perfect camper!

In our search for our first camper we spent over a month researching and visiting dealers. You tube was a great resourse for looking at all the different options, brands and sizes.

We decided quickly that we wanted a travel traveler. One that would work well with our 1/2 ton truck.

2010 Ford F150

Our first trip out to look at trailers the salesman tried to convince us that our truck could pull a 21ft Grand Design that had a dry weight of 5,000lbs. We almost fell for it too. Ultimately we walked away from that camper, because our gut said it was to big for us to enjoy.

After that we did a little research to figure out what our truck could pull safely. We figured out that our truck had a 8,000lb tow capacity. After further research we figured out that we should stick to a dry weight of 4,000lbs in order to reduce the pull on the truck.

We really liked the Grand Design so we went on a road trip to see a 17ft, Still loved the features that came with it, but again felt it was to large for our truck to handle.

At this point we went back to the drawing board yet again. We looked at some used trailers and compared them to the new ones available at our local dealer. We still could not make a decision until I watched a video from Keep Your Daydream on You tube. He said “Start small and get going!” This one statement got us going and we found one camper that was small and affordable and went to see it.

2019 Gulf Stream Capri

This is how we found our new 2019 Gulf Stream Capri. We loved the vintage look, the size and the price. Best of all it had a dry weight of 2,900 which made perfect for us.
